PURPOSE:To give a toner proper negative triboelectrifiability by coating the surface of a carrier, sleeve, or the like with a pyridinium compd. represented by a specified formula to form a material for triboelectrifying the electrostatic charge image developing toner. CONSTITUTION:The pyridinium compd. represented by the formula shown on the right in which R1-R5 are each H or >=2C alkyl, and at least one of them is >=2C alkyl, R6 is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, acyl, or a deriv. of these as a fundamental structure, and A<-> is an anion, is used. The surface of the carrier, sleeve, or doctor blade is coated with said pyridinium compd. to form the material for electrifying the toner for developing a charge image. To embody this process for the carrier, the surfaces of the carrier cores are dipped in a vessel contg. a soln. dissolving or dispersing said compd., or sprayed with said soln. |
