PURPOSE:To have an excellent oscillation resistant object by moving a tracking actuator of an optical pickup type in a direction at right angles with an inserting and removing direction of a disk. CONSTITUTION:When a disk 1 is inserted in a direction of L-L, the disk 1 is moved by loading rollers 17, 20, clamped, pressed onto a turntable 4 and rotated and driven together with the turntable 4 and an optical pickup unit 7 is moved in a direction of T-T and the information recorded in the disk 1 is successively optically read. When an electric current is passed through a focus coil 27 disposed in the optical pickup unit 7, a cylindrical body 26 slides vertically through a slide bearing 25 and an objective lens 15 moves vertically. When an electric current is passed through a tracking coil 28, a tracing actuator 23 moves in the direction of T-T centering the pivot bearing 24. The moving direction T-T of this actuator 23 is a direction at right angles with the inserting and removing direction L-L of the disk 1.
