PURPOSE:To prevent the polymerization of acrylamide near the activated carbon, and to obtain an aqueous solution of purified acrylamide free from contamina tion with polymers, stably, by contacting water having high dissolved oxygen concentration to an activated carbon, and contacting the activated carbon with an aqueous solution of acrylamide. CONSTITUTION:An activated carbon is made to contact with wate containing dissolved oxygen until the dissolved oxygen concentration of the water reaches >=0.5ppm, preferably >=1ppm, and the activated carbon is made to contact with an aqueous solution of acrylamide. The process is suitable for the purification of an aqueous solution of acrylamide free from a polymerization inhibitor such as copper ion, etc., and especially for the purifications of an aqueous solution of acrylamide produced by a microbial process. The contact of the activated carbon nwith water containing dissolved oxygen is carried out usually by passing the water containing dissolved oxygen through the packed layer of a column packed with activated carbon.
