PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having various excellent characteristics such as durability, writing and reading-out by providing a mixed layer consisting of a member constituting a magnetic layer and a member constituting a solid lubricating layer between the magnetic layer and the solid lubricating layer. CONSTITUTION:The mixed layer 4 consisting of the member constituting the magnetic layer and the member constituting the solid lubricating layer is provided between the magnetic layer 2 and solid lubricating layer 3 provided on the surface of a base body 1. The solid lubricating layer on the mixed layer is 60-600Angstrom and the member constituting the magnetic layer is of a Co-Cr alloy contg. 5-25wt% Cr. The member constituting the solid lubricating layer is of at least one kind among MoS2, 'Teflon(R)', Pc and C and the ratio of the member constituting the magnetic layer and the member constituting the solid lubricating layer in the mixed layer is 0.1-10. |
