PURPOSE:To measure precisely the remaining amount of propellant from the latter period to the last period of an astrogating by measuring the thickness (liquid level) of the propellant in a propellant tank by an ultrasonic probe directly. CONSTITUTION:Ultrasonic probes 12 are fitted to the surface of the propellant tank 1 at plural positions and connected to an ultrasonic wave transmitter and an ultrasonic wave receiver. A point on the liquid surface of the propellant 10 is measured by the respective probes 12, measured values from which are processed mathematically to estimate the liquid level shape of the propellant 10 and also calculate the capacity of the propellant 10. Consequently, the remaining amount of the propellant 10 is calculated accurately even when the amount is small. When gravitational force is fine, the propellant 10 is localized in the direction of the fine gravitational force to form an uneven distribution of the propellant, so many ultrasonic probes 12 are preferably provided so as to grasp accurately the liquid surface shape and capacity.
