A fluid-operated error sensing circuit comprises a fluid-mechanical sensor responsive to a plant variable which produces two pulsating output pressures whose frequencies are proportional to the value of the variable. The two outputs are fed to opposite sides of two resonant means each of which produce a pressure output proportional to the difference between the output frequency and the natural frequency of each means. The output signals of the two resonant means are supplied as control signals to a pure fluid amplifier which provides two output pressures whose difference is a measure of the deviation of the variable from a desired value which is represented by a frequency intermediate the natural frequencies of the two resonant means. The system may be used to control a steam inlet valve of a turbine in response to speed in which a shaft 33 is rotated at turbine speed and a plate 32 controls the outlets 27, 30 to produce a frequency in pipes 28, 31 responsive to the speed. The pipes 28, 31 are connected to opposite sides of blades 12, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) and when the frequency of the pressure differs from the natural frequency of the blades, the amplitude of the blade is decreased and thus the pressure in a receiver (39) opposite a pressure supply (38) is varied. The pressures in the two receivers (39) are fed to control channels (16), (17) of a fluid amplifier, Fig. 5 (not shown), which control the distribution of a power jet (52) between two outlets (61), (62).</p>
