<p>"Improvements relating to mineshaft closures" The present specification discloses a stabiliser for use as a minehsaft closure, the stabiliser taking the form of a basket-like framework which has gripping means in the form of elongate claw members which are pivotally secured to the rim of the framework. Thus the framework can be located in the mouth of a mineshaft and the elongate claw members pivoted outwards by a load introduced into the stabiliser basket; the elongate claw members positively gripping the wall of the mineshaft and reducing the possibility of stabiliser failure.</p> |
