PURPOSE:To reduce a gate power source capacity by disposing a circuit for regenerating power to the power source from a main circuit power source separately from a snubber circuit. CONSTITUTION:A voltage applied to a load circuit 2 is controlled in a main circuit configuration of a chopper circuit by altering the ratio of the firing period to an extinguishing period of a self-extinguishing thyristor 3. The main circuit has the thyristor 3, a snubber circuit 4, a gate power source 5, and a switching element 6 for controlling the timing of extinguishing the thyristor 3. In this case, a capacitor 7, a reactor 8, and diodes 9, 10 are further provided. Thus, sufficient energy can be regenerated from the main circuit to the power source 5 without decreasing the variation rate of a voltage between the anode and the cathode of the thyristor 3 by the switching operation of the thyristor 3 by the reactor 8 and the capacitor 7 from the power source 1. |
