PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform machining in the most suitable condition and facilitate machine operation by constituting the captioned unit in such a way that the contact signals of the conductive datum pillar provided on a table surface plate and an electrode is calculated by a position counter and the diameter of the electrode operated by the signals are automatically set. CONSTITUTION:When a wire electrode is brought into contact with a conductive pillar 19, signals are transmitted from a detecting unit 20 to an NC controller 12. The NC controller 12 receives the signals at position counter 16 to stop the relative movement of the wire electrode and then to move it to the direction of making it leave. After leaving, the wire electrode 6 contacts with the pillar 19 again and leaves it again to operate the diameter of the electrode in an operation circuit 21 on the basis of the value counted during the movement. The result is set in a variable to be stored in a memory 22. Machining conditions are set in relation to the diameter of the electrode in the memory 22 when required. This constitution prevents an operator from the mistake in inputting or the like and annoying input operation and enables the machining in the most suitable condition. |
