PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously grind each whole periphery of plural workpieces to reduce a working time for a preparatory plan by providing a detecting section to detect the positions of live centers for the workpieces and of an abrasive wheel. CONSTITUTION:Plural chucking units 3a, 3b, 3c provided with a rotary indexing function for holding workpieces are moved to their reference positions for grinding work by a carrying unit 2. In the next stage, the positions of the grinding stone wheel 4 of a grinding head section 8 and of the workpieces are measured by a detecting section 5. A machining information memory unit corrects previously inputted machining information on the basis of data stored in the detecting section 5. The grinding head 8, its forward and backward moving table, the chucking units and the carrying unit are put in automatic operation by a control unit 7 on corrected machining information to grind four workpieces continuously in order.
