PURPOSE:To enhance cut off speed and durability, by coating the surface of a wire body with a metal layer having crack grooves, to forcibly slide abrasive grains on the surface of a workpiece. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a steel wire body 1 is provided with a hard nickel plating of 5mum in thickness. The wire body 1 is elongated to a diameter of 0.16mmphi by a die so that numerous crack grooves 3 are made in the plated nickel layer 2 on the wire body 1. Abrasive grains 5 supplied in between the wire body 1 and a workpiece 4 move into the crack grooves 3 so that the abrasive grains are forcibly slid on the surface of the workpiece by the reciprocation of the wire body. This results in enhancing the efficiency of cut off. |
