PURPOSE:To efficiently finish a lens, by providing such a construction as to freely transfer a lens workpiece to a rough grinding process and to a finishing process as the workpiece remains chucked so that opening and closing can be performed by an external force. CONSTITUTION:An outer ring 15 is pushed up by an external force. A clamping tapered ring 12 coupled by bolts 14 is pushed down. As a result, a collet 11 clamping the peripheral surface of a chuck block 10 is opened. A lens workpiece 8 is inserted so that it is pushed on a core 9. The external force is removed so that the workpiece 8 is clamped on the peripheral surface thereof by the block 10. After that, the workpiece 8 is ground by a rough grinding diamond grindstone and a finishing diamond grindstone which are not shown in the drawing. |
