PURPOSE:To enable the utilization of a display panel as any of light reflection and transmission type panels with small consumption of electric power by placing separately arranged plural display electrodes and a corner electrode with an electrochromic or electrolytic soln. CONSTITUTION:A display panel is composed of glass substrates 1, plural display electrodes 2, a counter electrode 3, a sealant 4, a hole sealing agent 5 and a display substance 6. Transparent electrodes of In2O3 or SnO2 are used as the display electrodes 2 and the counter electrode 3. Epoxy resin, low m.p. glass, solder or the like is used as the sealant 4 and the hole sealing agent 5. In the display panel, the display pattern of each of the display electrodes is formed by arranging circles in five lines X five columns, and color is developed at suitable positions. Thus, letters can be displayed by dots.
