PURPOSE:To recognize an IC card by encoding a test message produced at random within a terminal with specific key codes to transmit it to the IC card, decoding the key code via the card to transmit it to a terminal and discriminating the propriety of correspondence with the data. CONSTITUTION:The prescribed key code given from a keyboard 16 is added to the signals produced at random from a random number data generator 20 within a card terminal. Then an RSA encoder 21 encodes a test message and transmits it to an IC card via a bus line 11. This test message is decoded by an RSA decoder for IC cards, and the own test message is applied to an SAN arithmetic part 34 via the line 11. Then the decoding data sent from the IC card is compared with the original test message for recognition of the propriety of the IC card. |
