PURPOSE:To obtain a water filtering apparatus capable of well securing water permeability and capable of relaxing the miniaturization of a main body case or planning standard, by adhering a hydrophilic substance to a filter member. CONSTITUTION:Tap water is flowed into a main body case 16 from a water inlet port 18 in an almost constant flow amount through a water feed apparatus 8 and passed through a filter member 23 by the water head of the main body case 16 while stored in said case 16 and impurities such as an iron oxide component are collected and removed during this process. Because a hydrophilic substance is adhered to the upper surface of this filter member 23, the water repellency of the filter member 23 itself is effectively suppressed and, because the compatibility with water becomes extremely easy, the water permeability of the filter member 23 can be sufficiently secured from the point of timer immediately after the start of water supply and water readily passes through the filter member 23.
