PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyol which can give a polyurethane elastomer excellent in low-temperature properties simply by a one-step reaction, by copolymerizing tetrahydrofuran with a polyalcohol in the presence of a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Tetrahydrofuran is copolymerized with a polyalcohol having at least two OH groups in the molecule (e.g., ethylene glycol) at 0-150 deg.C for 0.5-50hr in the presence of 0.01-20pts.wt., per pts.wt. feed, catalyst comprising a heteropolyacid salt containing 15 water molecules, per molecule, as coordinated water or added water (e.g., monosodium 12-tungtophosphate with 3.5 coordinated water molecules).
