PURPOSE:To copy an original and additional information at the same time by providing an electrochromic display body (ECD) outside a copying range on an original platen and moving a copy start position into the copying range of the ECD when the additional information is copied. CONSTITUTION:An ECD mechanism 40 is arranged on the original platen 2 with the information display surface of the ECD30 down. When the additional information of the ECD30 is copied, the copy mode of the additional information is selected and an exposure lamp 4 is moved in the opposite direction of the moving direction of normal copying operation to the copying range of the additional information displayed on the ECD. Namely, the copy start position is moved from P0 to P0'. At the same time, the additional information such as a date, page, mark, etc., is displayed on the ECD30 in colors. This additional information is displayed as a colored visible image as well as an original image, so copying operation is started at the copy start position P0' in this state and the exposure lamp 4 is turned on for lighting to form the composite image of the additional information displayed on the ECD30 and original image on a photosensitive drum, thereby transferring them to the same transfer paper while high quality is secured.
