This appts. has x-ray generating section(100), high-voltage generating section(200), and cooled sections each in a individual casing. A bushing(114), which separates the first two sections, mounts a cathode(108) and carries a high-voltage contact elelctrically connected with the high-voltage generator and cathode filament. An anode(104) has a target(106) in a cooled section and a part extending into the x-ray generating section which lines the target with the filament. A voltage applicator, which applies an AC voltage to the filament via a second winding tap, is encapsulated with resin in the high-voltage section.
