Methyl-1-(butyl carbamoyl)-2-benzimidazol carbamate(I) used as antibiotic in fruit gardening is prepared from methyl benzimidazol-2- yl-carbamate by reacting with n-butyl isocyanate in the solvent mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and water in the presence of acid catalyst, e.g., sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, p- toluene sulfonic acid, phenol, methane sulfonic acid, benzene sulfonate, formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, at 15 - 40≦̸C for 3 - 5 hrs.
