REFLECTION PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To eliminate the penetration of a photographic processing liquid from the section of a film substrate into which pulverous particles having voids around the particles and a white pigment having no voids are dispersed and incorporated by coating a photosensitive and photographic emulsion layer on one surface of said substrate. CONSTITUTION:The pulverous particles 1 which have the weak adhesive power to a thermoplastic resin 4 consisting essentially of a polyester resin and have substantially no reactivity with the resin 4 and the white pigment 3 consisting of an aluminum compd. having an oxygen bond or hydroxyl group bond are dispersed into the resin 4. The voids 2 useful for improving opacity are formed around the particles 1 when the resin 4 is stretched in the longitudinal and transverse biaxial directions. The film thickness of the substrate is made about 40-300mum in order to satisfy the mechanical strength of the film substrate and the total visible light transmittivity is made about <=20% in order to have the substantial opacity and whiteness when visually observed. The photosensitive and photographic emulsion layer is coated on at least one surface of the substrate formed in the above-mentioned manner. The penetration of the photographic processing liquid from the section of the substrate of the reflection photographic material is thus eliminated and the shelf life is improved. The improvement in the resolving power of a photographic image is made possible.
