PURPOSE:To mold a ceramic filter having a uniform and arbitrary void ration into an arbitrary shape from a wide-ranging ceramic material, by mixing a walnut shell crushed in a granular form with a ceramic stock material and molding the resulting mixture before baking the same. CONSTITUTION:A usual pottery stock material such as a knot, Gairome-clay, bentonite, CMC, pottery stone, silica sand, kaolin, calcium carbonate, talc, titanium or alumina or mineral stone such as Jokaseki (stone) or Iohseki (stone) is used as a ceramic stock material and 95-50pts.wt. of this stock material is mixed with 5-50pts.wt. of a walnut shell crushed into a powder with a particle size of 100 mesh or a granular form with a particle size of 5mm or less and the resulting mixture is molded into a predetermined shape by a press or extrusion molding method and baked. By this method, a light wt. strong filter having accurate shape and a uniform void ratio is obtained.
