PURPOSE:To reduce the space of an excessive length part and to prevent an optical fiber from being bent sharply and stressed by coiling the excessive part of the optical fiber at right angles to the axial direction of a cable. CONSTITUTION:The excessive length part 5 of the optical fiber stored in the optical fiber storage part in a repeating circuit storage container 2 which contains a repeating circuit 1 and a photoelectric converting circuit is coiled at right angles to the axial direction of the cable. In this case, the excessive length part may be coiled by using a body to which a preform in a coil shape is fitted or along a guide in the axial direction of the cable. Consequently, the space of the excessive length part 5 of the optical fiber in the storage container 2 is reduced and the storage container 2 is made compact to further reduce its thickness. Further, the optical fiber is prevented from being bent sharply and unexpectedly and mechanical stress which causes a decrease in characteristics of the optical fiber is prevented.
