PURPOSE:To improve detection resolution by twice by converting pi/2 out-of- phase analog signals A and B which are outputted by a fixed and a moving detection electrode into a rectangular wave signal of frequency which is twice as high as the phase difference pi/2 and then outputting the signal. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic rotation detection part 1 provided with a main scale at either of a moving and a fixed part and a detection part at the other outputs differential two-phase analog signals of phases A and B having the phase difference pi/2 to differential amplifying operational amplifiers 8a and 8b respectively. Output signals to the amplifiers 8a and 8b are converted by comparators 2a and 2b into rectangular waves in (1:1) waveform proportion, which are supplied to a transistor (TR)9 through an EOR integrated circuit 3a an outputted as the rectangular wave C of two-fold frequency. Further, the analog signals are supplied to an adding amplifier 5 and a subtracting amplifier 6 and supplied an EOR integrated circuit 3b and a TR10 through comparators 7a and 7b, so that a rectangular wave signal D of two-fold frequency is outputted. The signals C and D have the phase difference pi/2 and the detection resolution is increased by twice.
