PURPOSE:To effect easy production of nucleic acids through a fermentation process utilizing a novel microorganisms in Acinetobacter. CONSTITUTION:The objective novel microorganism is Acinetobacter sp. KSM-15 (FERM-7622) which is a coccus of 1-2mu cell diameter, forms circular colonies of cream color, grows at a pH of 4-9.5, in a temperature range from 20 to 40 deg.C and produce extracellularly deoxyribonucleic acid. The microorganism is cultured in a synthetic or natural medium containing carbon sources, nitrogen sources, inorganic substances and other nutrients under aerobic conditions. After cultivation, precipitates including cell bodies and the remaining solution is subjected to solvent precipitation, protein removal or salting out to collect DNA and RNA. |
