摘要 PURPOSE:To minimize the variance in the quality in the traveling direction and thickness direction of a thick steel plate by cooling the top surface of the steel plate by a slit nozzle system and the bottom surface by a mist nozzle system and adjusting the flow rate ratio of the cooling water between the top and bottom surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The top surface of the thick steel plate 1 under conveyance is cooled with the water flow 4 from a slit nozzle 3 attached to a slit nozzle header 2. The bottom surfaces of the plate 1 is cooled by plural pieces of the mist nozzles 7. The mists 8 sprayed from the nozzles 7 decrease in the energy of the liquid drops as the spraying distance increases and therefore the splashing of the water flow to the top surface at the front end 1a and rear end 1b in the traveling direction of the steel plate arises hardly. The cooling water is supplied from both nozzles 3, 7 in such a manner that the ratio of the water flow rate between the top and bottom surfaces of the plate 1 attains 1.0-1.4. The entire part of the steel plate is thus cooled uniformly.
