PURPOSE:To execute easily a classification of a symbol and a connecting line by detecting and adding only a strode being in a graphical coupling relation to a closed loop, in case when one symbol is not completed by only a closed loop graphic. CONSTITUTION:In a given two-dimensional table, a segment number written in the two-dimensional table designated by an address of a separating point between each segment strode is compared with a segment number written in the two-dimensional table designated by an address of the vicinity of the address, and if there is an adjacent part in one stroke, it is decided to be a closed loop, a chained line graphic stroke is obtained by comparing an Euclid distance between plural end points with a prescribed value, also a stroke for constituting a closed loop is obtained out of said stroke, and with respect to the closed loop obtained by both means, in accordance with whether both ends of the stroke exist in a frame determined from its circumscribed frame or not, whether its stroke is a constituting element of a closed loop drawing obtained in advance or not is decided.
