Method for lining an underground tunnel 2 such as for example an aqueduct, characterised in that: a. A series of cylindrical lining units are made up by assembling, for each unit, several curvilinear sections 5, 6, 7, 8 hinged to one another and these sections are folded inside one another; b. A lining unit 1 thus folded up is inserted into the tunnel 2 so that it reaches its mounting location; c. It is unfolded in such a way as to spread the elementary sections 5, 6, 7, 8 in order to form the complete section which substantially fits against the inner periphery of the tunnel 2, the sections bearing mutually against one another; d. These operations are repeated for the next lining unit 1 which is installed coaxially following the first lining unit 1 to which it is fixed, and so on with the following lining units 1. <IMAGE>
