The sorting system for elongate objects, such as planks and boards, sorts these objects into different compartments according to length, width, thickness or other quality features. The objects are fed by the horizontal upper part by driven, endless belts arranged one next to the other. For each compartment there are axles or shafts (3, 4) rotatably mounted in bearings fixed to the frames, arranged one behind the other and bearing pulleys (1, 2). Arms (9) can be pivoted downwards in each case about one of the axles or shafts (4) and bear at the free ends pulleys (8) on axle necks (6), about which pulleys, as well as about the pulleys of the aforesaid axle or shaft (4), endless belts (11) are placed. The arms (9) are pivoted by pneumatic or hydraulic power cylinders (13) between a lower position in which the objects are let down into the compartment (12) and the upper position in which the upper side of the belt (11) lies in the horizontal transport plane. <IMAGE> |
