PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive temp. sensor element material which is useful as the substitute material with platinum, by providing an alloy consisting of Mn, Al, and Cu in a specific atomic ratio. CONSTITUTION:The alloy consisting of, by atomic ratio, 7-49% Mn, 17-39% Al, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities is cast. The alloy is formed into an arbitrary shape, for example, foil or rod by various working methods and is further subjected to the regulation of resistance by perforation by etching, laser trimming, or other methods, which is heat-treated at <=350 deg.C to form the alloy for a temp. sensor element. This alloy has >=1,000ppm/ deg.C temp. coeffi cient of electric resistance and >=25muOMEGA-cm specific electric resistance and can be used as the substitute material with platinum.
