PURPOSE:To erase white or black horizontal lines in the raster and obtain a uniform picture, by forming non-luminous material with a color same as the phosphor at the contact of a cathode responding to the other cathode of a pair of parallel linear cathodes. CONSTITUTION:Electron beams 6a radiated from a cathode 1 of a cathode-ray tube are drawn through openings 3a of a cathode 3, and focused by a vertical focusing deflection system 4 and a horizontal focusing deflection system 6 to be the smallest spots. The electron beam 6a are modulated by image signals through a modulation system 5 between the deflection systems 4 and 6. On the other hand, on the anode plate 21 of the cathode-ray tube, is formed a phosphor stripe 22, responding to which plural linear cathodes 24 and 25 are furnished parallel to radiate electron beams. On the contact of the cathode 25 responding to the other cathode 24 is formed a non-luminous material 23 with a color same as the phosphor, to form a luminous portion 26 and a non- luminous portion 27 on the plate 21, making the picture in the raster uniform in appearance.
