PURPOSE:To edit economically a Japanese sentence by holding a KANA (Japanese syllabary) to KANJI (Chinese character) converting system in common. CONSTITUTION:An exchange device 11 has a main switch 111 and a controlling circuit 112 for controlling this main switch 111, and usually executes an exchange for various communication services by connecting a communication terminal equipment 12 and a common service device 13 to the main switch 111. A sentence editing device 21 inputs KANA (Japanese syllabary) character from an input keyboard 31 and displays it on an output indicator 32, also encodes and outputs a designated KANA character with respect to an input operation of a KANA/KANJI converting designation, inputs a converted KANJI code and displays it on the indicator 32, and also executes an editing processing of the sentence in accordance with a prescribed key operation. A KANA to KANJI converting device 22 inputs a KANA character code, and outputs successively its corresponding Chinese character. The sentence editing device 21 designates and selects one of plural Chinese characters by operating he input keyboard 31, and displays it on a prescribed position of the output indicator 32.
