PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of casting defects by disposing a porous heat resistant material provided with many communicating holes sized at a specific hole diameter to a flow passage for a molten metal and passing the molten metal through said passage from one side toward the other side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A submerged gate 9 is provided to the intermediate between the pouring side and tapping side of a tundish 4 for the molten metal and the porous heat resistant material 1 is disposed in the molten metal flow passage below said gate. The material 1 is provided with the many communicating holes which have 10-15mmphi average hole diameter and cross each other three- dimensionally. The molten alloy M poured through a pouring nozzle 8 passes always through the inside of the material 1 before tapping from a nozzle 5. The confluence and diversion of the molten metal are repeated during the course of such passage, by which the alloy components are homogenized. The nonferrous alloy casting is made into the homogeneous casting having no segregation defects by the above-mentioned method. |
