PURPOSE:To mount securely an adapter on a camera by allowing the adapter to be mounted on the camera only when a lens protection member is opened by an engagement part. CONSTITUTION:The adapter 8 for focal length conversion is mounted on the camera body 1 tightly and extremely easily while the photographic lens protection cover 7 is fully open. The length of a projection part 8a is nearly equal to the length of an arcuate recessed groove 3a which is exposed with the cover 7 fully open, and the width of the top and reverse surfaces of the adapter 8 is nearly equal to the extent of opening of the cover 7, so the projection part 8a can not be fitted in the arcuate recessed groove 3a unless the cover 7 is fully open. When the projection part 8a is fitted in said arcuate recessed groove, the focal length converting lens 9, finder compensating lens 10, projection lens compensating lens 11, and photodetection lens compensating lens 12 of the adapter 8 are positioned accurately and suitably for the photographic lens 2, finder 4, projection lens 5, and photodetection lens 6 of the camera 1.
