PURPOSE:To obtain a steel for a line pipe having superior corrosion resistance and weldability by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, Al, P, S and N to Fe. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of, by weight, <=0.02% C, <=1.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 0.5-3.0% Ni, 11-15% Cr, 0.5-1.5% Mo, 0.01-0.10% Al, <0.03% P, <0.003% S, <0.02% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is manufactured. The steel may further contain 1-5 times as much Ca as S and 0.10-0.15% V.
