PURPOSE:To cope with recording formats different in track width by prescribing the recording track width with ferromagnetic thin metallic films and placing edge parts on one side and the other of a magnetic gap forming surface respectively. CONSTITUTION:Ferromagnetic thin metallic films 5 and 6 are stuck to thin film forming surfaces 3 and 4 of a pair of magnetic core half bodies 1 and 2. The recording track width is prescribed by these thin metallic films 5 and 6, and they are so constituted that edge parts 7 and 8 are on one side and the other of a gap forming surface respectively as if the recording track width is extended. Thus, since information signals can be reproduced by thin metallic films 5 and 6 and pilot signals having a low frequency can be reproduced by the edge effect of an oxide on the gap forming surface 11, recording formats different in track width are coped with. |
