Drop-forging with asymmetric precavities

The subject-matter of our invention is the reduction of the excess material used by an amount DELTA V', this being achieved by the use of so-called asymmetric precavities. The use of these asymmetric cavities ensures uniform volume distribution of the material used in the cavity. With asymmetric cavities, it is possible in the most favourable case to save approximately half of the excess material used hitherto, making up about 10 to 20% of the total weight (e.g. in the production of crankshafts).
