PURPOSE:To improve the unevenness of vertical deflection sensitivity and to obtain excellent picture quality without the nonuniformity of brightness by giving to a line cathode ray a potential gradient caused by an emission current and that of a reverse polarity. CONSTITUTION:Conductive materials 1a, 1c and 1b are coated at left and right ends and a center of the back electrode 1 of a uniform resistance, and the back electrode 1 is bisected. A normal back electrode voltage VB is impressed to the center conductive material 1b through a resistance R31, and the conductive materials 1a and 1c commonly connected are connected to collectors of the same number of installed transistors TR1, TR3, ...TR29 as the line cathoderays. To their emitters are collectors of transistors TR2, TR4, ...TR30 connected, and sequentially turned on by line cathode ray drive pulses (a)-(o). A adjusted control voltage is impressed to bases of the transistors TR1, TR3, ...TR29, whereby a voltage having the potential gradient from the center to both ends is generated in the back electrode 1 at every line cathode ray band so that the nonuniformity of the vertical deflection sensitivity due to the initial speed of an electron beam can be compensated.
