PURPOSE:To read out necessary one easily from pictures recorded continuously by recording on a tape while including specific information when recording pictures, and checking up the information at the time of reading. CONSTITUTION:After mounting a tape, and an instruction of for instance, picture writing is inputted from a keyboard, and a picture displayed on a display unit 3 is written. Then, the number of inputted picture is written on the tape, and then the picture is transferred from a memory 5 to the tape and recorded. On the other hand, when an instruction to read out the picture is inputted, the number of picture recorded on the tape is taken in a controlling device 6, and compared with the number of picture to be read out inputted from the keyboard 4. When they coincide, the picture is displayed on the display unit 3, and transferred to the picture memory 5. On the other hand, inputted number does not conform with the number of the picture, the tape is advanced to a position where the next number of the picture can be read.
