The invention relates to a magnetic oxygen analyser having two electromagnets, which lie parallel to one another, each have a gap so as to form two confronting poles (7, 7' and 8, 8' respectively), and carry a magnetic coil by which a magnetic field between the poles can be generated, a device containing a sample gas line and a reference gas line for feeding a sample gas and a reference gas, which has a magnetic susceptibility differing from that of the sample gas, into the spaces between the poles, and a measuring device (9) via which the oxygen content in the sample gas can be determined on the basis of an interface pressure which is established owing to the difference in the magnetic susceptibilities. The sample gas line (a) for feeding in the sample gas is connected to a branch line (d) in which a membrane (16) selectively permeable to oxygen is arranged, it being possible to use as the reference gas the gas which has passed the membrane selectively permeable to oxygen. <IMAGE>
