In the case of a reciprocating wiper system for motor vehicles having a piston which is guided in a housing such that it is linearly displaceable, and having a slide which is secured against twisting and longitudinal displacement and is held on the piston so as to extend at least approximately perpendicularly with respect to the piston and is guided longitudinally on both sides of the piston on two rails fixed to the housing, tolerances in the shape of the slide and the rails and in the position of these parts relative to one another should be compensated for in a simple manner. For this purpose the slide has sliding blocks which can move resiliently and rest on the rails.
