BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF WASTE WATER

PURPOSE:To separate simultaneously the nitrogen and phosphorus of waste water by stirring anaerobically the waste water during the inflow of the waste water into an aerator while regulating the liquid mixture composed of the waste water and activated sludge in the aerator to specific oxidation-reduction potential and executing the anaerobic stirring in the stage of denitrification treatment while regulating said mixture to the specific oxidation-reduction potential. CONSTITUTION:The liquid mixture composed of the waste water and activated sludge in the aerator is anaerobically stirred while the oxidation-reduction potential of said soln. mixture is regulated to <=-250mV during the inflow of the waste water into the aerator in the biological treatment method of the waste water by a batch type activated sludge method including an anaerobic stage and aerobic stage. Tetae anaerobic stirring in the stage of the denitrification treatment to be executed after the aeration treatment i-s executed while the oxidation-reduction potential of the liquid mixture in the aerator is regulated to a -150--250mW range. The simultaneous and efficient treatment and sepn. of the nitrogen and phosphorus in the waste water are made possible by using the conventional batch type installation as it is without requiring intricate and costly equipment in the above-mentioned method.
