PURPOSE:To reduce a vibration that occurs to a substrate by supporting a voice coil motor with the mediation by an elastic supporting material and a guiding material and thereby absorbing and reducing the transmission to a substrate of the reaction that occurs during the high speed seeking action of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:While a magnetic disc 1 is rotating with a spindle 6, the carriage 3, when receiving a positioning command, performs a seeking action that is associated by a high speed to-and-fro movement. During this movement, the voice coil 4 receives a reaction in the direction of the arrow proportionate to the acceleration of the movement of the carriage 3. And, this reaction is transmitted to a lower substrate 5 and an upper substrate 11, however, because the voice coil 4 located between a frame 7 and a pressing plate 8 that are fixed to the lower substrate 5 and the upper substrate 11 is mounted between the both end surfaces by the elastic supporting materials 9 and 10 which elastically deform and because, further, it is supported by the guiding materials 13 and 14 in the mounting 12 with little resistance and in a condition smoothly movable in straight line, the force to be transmitted to the substrates 5 and 11 is reduced.
