In the production of mouldings in which the liquefied material is injected or cast into a workpiece mould comprising at least two mould halves, the semi-finished product for the moulding is affected by flash at the mould parting surfaces after opening of the mould halves. In order to remove flash of this kind a plurality of additional operations have hitherto been necessary. According to the invention, a flash ridge (2, 12, 22) of specified cross-sectional shape is injection moulded or cast onto the injection moulded or cast part (1, 11, 21), which flash ridge can be removed in a single operation, preferably by manual tearing off. In a device for producing mouldings having an injection mould or cast mould comprising at least two mould halves, at least one mould half (10) has a defined material recess (2') at the mould parting surface to for the flash ridge (2). The injection moulded or cast part (1, 11, 21) for largely flash-free mouldings, which is produced therewith, consequently has a flash ridge (2, 12, 22) whose thickness changes with distance from the parting surface according to a predetermined function. <IMAGE>
