Process for the production of synthesis gas by partial combustion of a carbonaceous fuel with an oxygen-containing gas in a reactor, the synthesis gas being discharged at the top of the reactor and the slag at the bottom of the reactor. Within the reactor the synthesis gas is conducted past baffle plates which are fastened to the wall of the reactor. The baffle plates are so developed that the fly slag intercepted by them combines to form larger drops, flows downward to the edge of the baffle plate in the centre of the reactor, and falls into a slag outlet. By the intercepting of this fly slag, the risk of disturbances in the remaining course of the process, and particularly of fouling a waste heat boiler, are reduced. Furthermore, a larger yield of carbon monoxide can be obtained since carbon which is still present in the droplets of slag is subjected to a further partial combustion during the fall of the droplets downward into the slag outlet.
|
