PURPOSE:To reduce the load on a spindle motor by using the pressing part of a medium-chuck lever to push the center core of a magnetic recording medium after the setting of the medium onto the spindle shaft is completed, and releasing the pressing force. CONSTITUTION:After inserting a cassette 13 that contains a medium 12 into a housing 1, the housing 1 is pushed down in resisting a spring 2. This causes the pressing part 5a of a medium-chuck lever 5 to push down the medium 12 in abutting on the top surface of a center core part 14 in following the descending of the housing. In sequence, the hole 14a of a core part 14 is pushed into the spindle shaft 3a. Meanwhile, during the descending of the housing, a pin 8 causes a stop lever 9 to turn counterclockwise in resisting the energizing force of a spring 10. When this turn reaches to the bottom of a slanting part 9b, the lever 9 reverse its turn the clockwise direction driven by the energizing force of the spring 10. At such a time, the lever 9 pushes up an arm 5b and therefore the lever 5 turns upward. In consequence, the pressing of the pressing part 5a to the core part 14 is released.
