The invention relates to a screw press having a drive disc which is connected to the spindle and having a flywheel which serves as an energy store for the operating process, is temporarily connected to the spindle by means of a coupling and comes to a standstill at the end of the conversion process. In order to improve such a screw press as far as operating capacity, power consumption and overall efficiency are concerned, it is proposed that an own independent drive be available in each case for the emptying/lifting movement of the pusher rod (1) and the flywheel (8, 9). <IMAGE>
