The device for caging and uncaging mine cars onto and from a cage contains a pushing truck with pivotable pushing arm, and a pulling truck (1) which is located in front of the pushing truck and on which a pulling arm (10) is mounted which can be locked in a neutral position but can swing out automatically into the pulling position through gravitational force upon release of the locking. A pivotable switching lever (16) is arranged at the side of the pulling arm (10) in the pulling truck (1). The switching lever (16) can be pivoted by fixed switching skids (23 and 24) into one or the other of its two stable end positions while overcoming a spring force. In the neutral position of the switching lever (16), the pulling arm (10) is released for an unimpeded movement between its pulling position and a swung-in position. When pivoting into the other end position, the switching lever (16) pushes the pulling arm (10) into its neutral position and secures it in this position. <IMAGE>
