Video cassette having an upper housing part and a lower housing part, in which a tape wiper of flexible plastic material can be fastened to a holding device, comprising a plate with lug. The said tape wiper presses the magnetic tape to be wound up or unwound against a deflecting pin, there being arranged opposite the plate 2 with lug 3, located in the video cassette, a straight web 8 which runs approximately in the same direction and the free end of which is preferably cylindrically widened 9, so that a gap 10 is produced between web and widening. The tape wiper is bent around upon insertion and bears with its bending point 11 against the lug of the plate. The bent-around end of the tape wiper is resiliently clamped in the gap, whereby the other part of the surface of the tape wiper is pressed against the plate. The tape wiper may be inserted horizontally and vertically into the lower part of the housing (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
