PURPOSE:To change the fulcrum point of a rocker arm to control the lift of the latter, by forming the fulcrum point of the rocker arm in a curved surface shape, and by supporting the rocker arm 3 having a curved surface making in contact with the curved surface of the fulcrum and adjusted in its inclined angle. CONSTITUTION:The fulcrum side of a rocker arm 3 which abuts at its one end against the upper end of a valve 1 and makes, in its center section, in contact with a cam 6, is formed with a curved surface 7 which is supported by a fulcrum arm 8 that is adjusted in its inclined angle by an operating piece 12 supported by a hydraulic tappet 13. This supporting surface is formed of a curved surface 11, and therefore, the contact point between both curved surfaces 7, 11 is shifted to change the lever ratio, thereby the lift of the valve is controlled. With this arrangement, it is possible to reduce the lift of the valve at a low speed while the flow rate of intake-air is increased, and further, the lift is increased at a high speed so that the efficiency of intake and exhaust of gas is enhanced. |
