PURPOSE:To prevent the disturbance of a picture at a connecting part of composite photography at the time of reproduction by recording a special video signal for the clear join and recording a control signal in the clear joint of the sound recording of the video tape. CONSTITUTION:When a sound recording stop switch 1 is off, the output of a 'not' circuit 2 goes to be a high level, a sound recording control means 3 is driven, a sound head 4, a video head 5, a control signal generating circuit 6 and a tape travelling control means 7 is driven and an ordinary recording mode is obtained. When the sound recording stop switch 1 is on, the output of the 'not' circuit 2 goes to a low level, the sound recording control means 3 is stopped, and simultaneously the input to a timer 11 goes to a high level and the starting is executed. The output of the timer 11 drives a muting circuit 12 of a recording control means 14 and a special video signal generating circuit 13 for composite photography and the driving of the control signal generating circuit 6 and the tape travelling control means 4 is continued continuously after the recording mode is completed.
